EPL: Brighton thrash Chelsea 3-0, dent UCL hopes

Chelsea’s faint hopes of securing a Champions League spot took another major hit after a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium, a result that further intensified pressure on manager Liam Rosenior.

Brighton delivered a dominant performance to climb above Chelsea into sixth place, with goals from Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinshelwood, and substitute Danny Welbeck sealing an emphatic victory.

The defeat marked a worrying milestone for Chelsea, who have now lost five consecutive Premier League matches without scoring their worst such run since 1912.

Frustration among the travelling supporters boiled over in the second half, as Rosenior was targeted with X-rated chants during a dismal outing.

Injuries to key attacking players Cole Palmer, Estêvão Willian, and João Pedro left Chelsea blunt in attack, with the visitors failing to register a single shot on target.

The loss leaves them seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, having also played a game more.

Meanwhile, Brighton’s impressive form continues to gather momentum. The Seagulls have now collected 19 points from their last eight matches, boosting their push for European football.

Their fans added to Chelsea’s misery by ironically chanting in support of Rosenior, a former Brighton player and coach, as the visitors endured yet another disappointing night.
