Bundesliga: Bayern beat 10-man M’gladbach 3-0

Bayern Munich maintained their perfect start to the Bundesliga season with a commanding 3-0 win over 10-man Borussia Monchengladbach, thanks to a second-half blitz.

Despite facing a determined Gladbach side, Julian Nagelsmann’s men broke through in a 17-minute flurry of goals after Jens Castrop was sent off early in the game.

Castrop’s reckless challenge on Luis Díaz saw the referee initially brandish a yellow card before consulting VAR and upgrading it to a straight red in the 18th minute, leaving Gladbach to play over 70 minutes with ten men.

The deadlock was finally broken by Joshua Kimmich, who netted his first goal of the season.

Raphaël Guerreiro soon doubled the advantage, and Lennart Karl added the finishing touch, scoring his first Bundesliga goal for Bayern shortly after netting his maiden senior goal for the club.

Bayern came close to taking the lead from the opening whistle when Nicolas Jackson threaded a pass to Luis Díaz, whose effort went narrowly wide.

Gladbach initially weathered the storm despite their numerical disadvantage, enjoying a fair share of possession but struggling to create clear-cut chances, registering just four shots in the first half.

Harry Kane, showing glimpses of his recent lethal form, forced a smart save from Moritz Nicolas three minutes before the break after scuffing a shot inside the box.

Bayern pressed hard after the interval, with Michael Olise curling an effort that beat the goalkeeper but was brilliantly cleared off the line by Kevin Diks.

Kane thought he had broken the deadlock shortly after the hour mark, only for the offside flag to deny him.

The breakthrough came moments later. Serge Gnabry’s delivery found Kimmich, whose initial shot was blocked but fell kindly back to him, allowing him to calmly slot home.

Bayern made it 2-0 five minutes later, as Guerreiro timed his run perfectly onto Olise’s pass and finished with composure past Nicolas.

Gladbach had a lifeline from the penalty spot after Tom Bischof fouled Diks, but Kevin Stöger’s spot-kick cannoned off the post.

Bayern capitalized immediately, and Lennart Karl added a spectacular third goal just six minutes later, curling the ball into the top corner to seal another emphatic victory.

With this win, Bayern extended their unbeaten run to eight consecutive league victories, keeping their 100% start alive while sending a strong statement to their Bundesliga rivals.
