Borussia Dortmund edged VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 on Sunday, with Karim Adeyemi’s thunderous first-half strike proving decisive as they climbed to second in the Bundesliga table.
The Germany international, who also found the net in Dortmund’s midweek 4-4 Champions League thriller against Juventus, struck with a rocket of a shot measured at 125 km/h to secure all three points.
Maximilian Beier nearly doubled the advantage before the break, narrowly missing with a header, while Dortmund dominated much of the opening half.
Wolfsburg responded strongly after the restart, coming closest through Konstantinos Koulierakis, who rattled the woodwork and later dragged a shot wide in stoppage time, as their unbeaten run came to an end.
Dortmund’s result extends their league unbeaten streak to 12 matches, stretching back to last season.
Meanwhile, champions Bayern Munich sit top with 12 points after Harry Kane’s hat-trick inspired a 4-1 win at Hoffenheim.
