Bayern edge Dortmund 2-1 in dramatic Der Klassiker win

Bayern Munich edged Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in a dramatic Der Klassiker on Saturday, sealing victory thanks to a bizarre second-half goal.

Harry Kane broke the deadlock early, before Michael Olise doubled the advantage for the hosts. Julian Brandt pulled one back late on for Dortmund, but it wasn’t enough to deny Bayern a crucial win.

The result leaves the Bavarian giants firmly in control of the Bundesliga title race, extending their perfect start to seven wins from seven matches.

They now sit top with 21 points, five clear of second-placed RB Leipzig on 16. Dortmund, who began the weekend in second, slipped to fourth with 14 points, just behind Stuttgart on 15.

Kane’s opener came after a precise corner delivery from Joshua Kimmich. The English striker rose highest to power a header past Gregor Kobel, leaving the Dortmund goalkeeper no chance.

After the break, Kane was again involved, launching a long ball to Luis Díaz, whose cross caused chaos in the box.

Jobe Bellingham hesitated to clear, allowing Olise to throw himself at the ball and bundle it home in what turned out to be a bizarre goal.

Substitute Julian Brandt made an instant impact, scoring just a minute after coming on by converting a cross from Julian Ryerson, giving Dortmund a late consolation.
