Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has announced the death of her mother, who passed away after battling a prolonged illness.
The actress disclosed the sad news on Monday through her official Instagram page, where she shared photographs of herself with her late mother and expressed grief over the loss.
In her tribute, Ade said she accepted her mother’s death as the will of Almighty Allah, while praying for the peaceful repose of her soul.
“With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator after a long battle with illness,” she wrote.
The actress noted that her mother was survived by her children, grandchildren, sisters and other loved ones, who would continue to cherish her memory.
Praying for her mother’s soul, Ade wrote, “Ya Allah, forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her, make her grave spacious and filled with light, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus.”
She also prayed for strength and patience for the family as they come to terms with the loss.
“Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen,” she added.
Ade said details of the funeral arrangements would be announced later.
Following the announcement, colleagues and fans in the entertainment industry took to social media to express their condolences and offer prayers for the bereaved family.
Actor Yemi Solade sympathised with the actress, praying for her mother’s soul to be accepted by her Creator.
“Accept sincere condolences from me. May the soul of your mother be accepted by her Creator and rest in eternal peace. Amen. Take heart, ADUNNIADE,” he wrote.
Similarly, actress Sophie Alakija expressed her sympathy, writing, “So sorry for your loss, mama.”
Other entertainers, including Eso Dike, Damilola Oni, Rotimi Salami and Linda Osifo, also sent messages of condolence to the actress.
