ToluwaniSings visited eight hospitals after slumping, aide says

The personal assistant to late gospel singer ToluwaniSings, Babadunni Olayemi, has recounted how efforts to save the musician’s life were unsuccessful after he suddenly slumped and was taken to several hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Olayemi said the singer was taken to between seven and eight hospitals, but the family and his associates struggled to secure medical attention at some of the facilities.

According to him, some hospitals reportedly cited an ongoing doctors’ strike, while others declined to admit the singer.

ToluwaniSings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, a day after reportedly performing at a worship programme.

Speaking about the incident on Thursday, Olayemi said he was not present when the singer collapsed but rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

“I wasn’t here when it happened in the morning. They called me, and I came,” he said.

The aide described the singer as being in good health before the incident, adding that those around him attempted to revive him before seeking medical assistance.

“There was nothing wrong with him. He was very fine and in perfect condition. He just slumped. They tried to resuscitate him, and everybody went helter-skelter,” Olayemi said.

He explained that the search for medical attention took them to several hospitals, but they encountered difficulties.

“Some said doctors were not working because of the strike. Some did not admit him at all. We tried our best, including prayers. We took him to up to seven or eight hospitals in Ibadan, but God said his time was up,” he added.

The circumstances surrounding the reported difficulties in securing treatment have drawn attention to the challenges the singer’s associates faced while trying to get him medical care.

Olayemi said the singer’s remains had been deposited at a mortuary, while the family was expected to determine the next steps after consultations.

“The family members are here, and we are all trying to manage the situation. The body is currently at the mortuary. Once the family members hold their meeting and are clear on things, we will know the next step to take,” he said.

He added that arrangements would be made in line with the decisions reached by the family.

The singer’s death was earlier confirmed by his family.

ToluwaniSings was known in gospel music circles for songs including A Very Big God and Onibuore, which earned him recognition among worshippers.
