The Kebbi State High Court judge who was abducted about a week ago, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has regained his freedom and reunited with his family.
A family member confirmed the judge’s release on Monday, saying he returned home after spending one week in the custody of his abductors.
“We are in jubilation and full of gratitude to God for seeing our own return safely from captivity. He was just released and has returned home after spending one week with the bandits,” the family member said.
The relative also appreciated the support received during the period of the judge’s abduction.
“We sincerely thank the Kebbi State Judiciary, security agencies, and the people of Kebbi State for their prayers, encouragement, and messages of sympathy. Their concern and support gave us strength throughout the difficult period,” the source added.
The family, however, did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the judge’s release, noting that further details would be made available later.
“Other details of how he was released will be made public later,” the family member stated.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kebbi State Judiciary and security agencies had yet to issue an official statement confirming the judge’s release.
Justice Bunza was abducted last week, prompting widespread concern and calls from residents and stakeholders for his immediate and unconditional release.
