Manchester United staged a remarkable late comeback to secure a 4-4 draw against Aston Villa in an eight-goal Premier League thriller at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Villa raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening four minutes, with Alysson opening the scoring in the second minute before Nicolas Jackson doubled the advantage two minutes later.
Manchester United responded through captain Bruno Fernandes, who converted a penalty in the 15th minute after Matheus Cunha was fouled in the box.
Youri Tielemans then brought the hosts level with an equaliser in the 44th minute to send both sides into the break at 2-2.
However, Villa regained the advantage shortly after the restart when John McGinn converted a penalty in the 48th minute after Diogo Dalot fouled Alysson.
Leon Goretzka extended the visitors’ lead in the 53rd minute, capitalising on a goalmouth scramble to make it 4-2.
With the match seemingly beyond their reach, United launched a late assault, pulling one back through Joshua Zirkzee in the 90th minute plus two after a cross from Patrick Dorgu.
Dorgu then completed the comeback in the 90th minute plus six, heading home from a corner after Villa goalkeeper Zyon Suzuki failed to deal with the delivery.
The goal was initially subject to a VAR review before it was confirmed, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.
The result earned United a point in a dramatic encounter, although they remained in the relegation zone, while Villa missed the opportunity to claim all three points after surrendering a two-goal advantage.
