Bournemouth extended their winning run to eight matches after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday, with Brazilian striker Evanilson finding the net for the fifth consecutive league game.
Evanilson opened the scoring after five minutes at Portman Road, capitalising on a costly error by Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton, who failed to dribble past the Bournemouth forward.
The Brazilian continued his impressive form, having scored seven goals in eight appearances after failing to find the net in his first six outings of the season.
Bournemouth doubled their advantage just 27 seconds into the second half when Ryan Christie’s effort deflected off Ipswich defender Leif Davis and crossed the goal line for an own goal.
Ipswich, managed by Gary O’Neil, responded with renewed determination as they sought to avoid another disappointing result against their visitors.
The hosts reduced the deficit with 17 minutes remaining after Jack Clarke converted a penalty, raising hopes of a comeback.
However, Bournemouth held firm in the closing stages to secure all three points, leaving Ipswich with just one victory in their last seven matches.
