Inter Milan returned to winning ways in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Como at the San Siro on Sunday, moving up to second place in the table.
The Nerazzurri made a fast start to the 11th-round encounter, taking the lead in the 12th minute through Francesco Pio Esposito, who converted a pass from Djed Spence to put the hosts ahead.
Inter doubled their advantage just seven minutes later when Marcus Thuram found the net in the 19th minute, giving the hosts a comfortable two-goal cushion before half-time.
Under manager Cristian Chivu, Inter maintained control after the break, limiting Como’s attacking threat despite efforts by Cesc Fabregas’ men to find a way back into the contest.
Como struggled to create clear-cut opportunities as the hosts protected their advantage to secure all three points and end their recent setback in the league.
The victory takes Inter to 28 points, placing them second in the standings, one point behind leaders Lazio.
Roma drop to third with 27 points, while Como remain fifth with 23 points.
