Barcelona will officially announce a contract extension for Brazilian forward and club captain Raphinha on Thursday, securing his services until June 30, 2030.
The new deal, which was signed in early October, has received approval from the player, his representatives and the Spanish club.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, disclosed the development on X on Wednesday, stating, “Barcelona, set to unveil Raphinha’s new deal until June 2030 after documents were already signed early October.
“All set also with Raphinha’s new agents to announce and confirm a longer deal for the captain.”
The extension adds two years to Raphinha’s previous contract, which was due to expire in 2028, further strengthening Barcelona’s commitment to the winger.
The club’s sporting director, Deco, had earlier announced an agreement in principle during Barcelona’s general assembly in mid-September, revealing that the Brazilian would remain at the club for another four years.
The formal announcement is expected to conclude the remaining administrative procedures, with Raphinha’s new agents also involved in finalising the details of the extended agreement.
The decision to extend the captain’s contract comes amid his impressive performances under head coach Hansi Flick.
The 29-year-old has emerged as a key figure in Barcelona’s campaign, delivering significant contributions in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
His performances, leadership qualities and attacking productivity have made him an important part of the club’s long-term plans.
Raphinha joined Barcelona from English Premier League side Leeds United in 2022 and has since established himself as one of the team’s influential players.
The contract extension is expected to provide stability to the club’s attacking setup and leadership structure as they continue their project under Flick.
