The Ekiti State Government has commenced the distribution of appointment letters to 1,522 newly recruited junior healthcare workers as part of efforts to address manpower shortages in primary healthcare facilities across the state.
The recruitment exercise is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots and improve access to essential medical services for residents.
The Chairman of the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Funke Ogunbunmi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday.
Ogunbunmi described the recruitment as a major step towards addressing staffing gaps in primary healthcare centres and improving service delivery.
She commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for approving the exercise, saying it reflected his administration’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of residents.
The statement read, “Adequate staffing is essential to building a functional, responsive and accessible healthcare system. The new personnel will improve operational efficiency and enhance the capacity of frontline health facilities to meet residents’ healthcare needs.”
She explained that the successful candidates were recruited as Laboratory Assistants, Health Assistants and Health Attendants.
The agency chairman said the distribution of appointment letters commenced on Wednesday, October 28, at the agency’s registry in Ado Ekiti and would continue until Tuesday, November 3.
She added that the candidates were being attended to in batches of 300 daily to ensure a smooth verification and collection process.
Ogunbunmi said, “Successful candidates have been directed to report to the registry from 10 am on their designated days with the original copies of their credentials for verification.”
She further explained that appointment letters would only be issued to candidates whose documents had been duly verified.
The agency urged successful applicants to consult the published recruitment list and comply with the stated requirements to avoid delays in collecting their appointment letters.
