Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election ambition and the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
The musician also urged voters to back Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other APC candidates, saying continuity in government was necessary to sustain development and complete ongoing projects across the country.
KWAM 1 made the appeal on Saturday while performing at the Yoruba Political Mobilisation and Empowerment Programme held in Kano State.
The event was organised by the Leke Foundation, established by Leke Abejide, a member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba Federal Constituency in Kogi State.
Addressing participants, the veteran entertainer described the APC as a platform for development and progress, urging Nigerians to support the party in the forthcoming elections.
“APC for development and progress. This coming election is for continuity to ensure completion of all ongoing projects for the betterment of all,” he said.
His appeal comes as political parties and their supporters begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections, when Tinubu will seek another four-year presidential mandate.
The President was elected in 2023 on the APC platform, defeating his major challengers, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
Similarly, Governor Yusuf’s inclusion in the mobilisation reflects the changing political landscape in Kano, following his defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the APC on January 26, 2026.
The governor, who was elected in 2023 with the backing of the Kwankwasiyya movement led by Rabiu Kwankwaso, said his return to the ruling party was informed by the need for stronger cooperation with the Federal Government.
KWAM 1, who has previously expressed support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition, used his musical performance at the Kano gathering to encourage participants to rally behind the President, Yusuf and other APC candidates ahead of the next electoral cycle.
