Police nab suspected Anambra serial phone thief

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Ifeanyi Obi, over alleged multiple cases of mobile phone theft at hotels in Awka, Isuaniocha and Mgbakwu communities in the state.

The command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying operatives of the Amanuke Police Division apprehended the suspect in the early hours of Sunday, October 25, 2026.

According to Ikenga, the arrest followed investigations into reported phone thefts and the examination of surveillance footage that allegedly linked Obi to the incidents.

He said the suspect reportedly confessed during interrogation to stealing five Android phones from hotels in the affected communities.
