Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Duru has died following a brief illness, according to an announcement by his family on Friday, October 23, 2026.
The family announced his death in a statement published on the actor’s verified Instagram account, expressing appreciation to those who have offered support during the difficult period.
The statement read, “We, the family of Francis Duru, regret to announce his passing following a brief illness.”
It added, “We appreciate your prayers, love, and understanding. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”
Duru’s death comes about two years after he lost his youngest son, Ifeanyi, in 2024.
