Bundesliga: Dortmund edge Hamburger 3-2 in comeback win

Borussia Dortmund staged a dramatic second-half turnaround to defeat Hamburger SV 3-2, with two penalty goals helping them recover from a two-goal deficit at the break and maintain their only Bundesliga defeat this season coming against Bayern Munich.

The match began with early promise for Dortmund when Daniel Heuer Fernandes reacted quickly to deny Maximilian Beier from close range inside the opening seven minutes.

Despite that scare, Hamburg settled and grew into the contest, eventually taking control of a lively first half.

The visitors struck first when William Mikelbrencis dispossessed Daniel Svensson and set up Philip Otele for a simple finish at the back post.

Hamburg continued to threaten on the counter, with Gregor Kobel forced into a sharp save to keep out Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer, who later had a headed effort ruled offside from the resulting set-piece.

Dortmund hit the woodwork through Nico Schlotterbeck, but it was Hamburg who doubled their lead soon after.

Fabio Vieira saw an effort from distance parried by Kobel before reacting quickly to release Albert Sambi Lokonga, who calmly lifted the ball into the top corner to make it 2-0.

Dortmund had a chance to respond before the interval when Warmed Omari brought down Beier in the box, but Felix Nmecha squandered the penalty, sending his effort wide of the post.

The hosts returned from the break with renewed intensity, aided by the introductions of Serhou Guirassy and Fabio Silva.

Their pressure eventually told when Mikelbrencis fouled Beier again inside the area, and Ramy Bensebaini converted the penalty with confidence.

Momentum fully shifted minutes later as Guirassy bundled the ball over the line after a goalmouth scramble to level the score.

Dortmund continued to push forward, and their comeback was completed late on when Miro Muheim handled in the box, gifting another penalty which Bensebaini calmly dispatched to seal the victory.
