Bayern thrash Union Berlin 4-0, near Bundesliga title

Bayern Munich moved a step closer to securing their 34th Bundesliga crown with a commanding 4-0 victory over Union Berlin, extending their unbeaten run to 12 matches.

Dominant once again at the Allianz Arena, where they have now recorded five straight home wins, Bayern controlled proceedings from the outset but had to wait until just before halftime to break the deadlock.

Union Berlin showed early resilience, frustrating the hosts without posing any real attacking threat.

Bayern’s first big chance came around the half-hour mark when Josip Stanišić delivered a precise cross to Lennart Karl, but the youngster squandered the opportunity as his effort struck the post.

Harry Kane also came close soon after, rounding the goalkeeper but failing to convert from a tight angle.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 43rd minute through Michael Olise, who cut in from the right and curled a superb effort into the far corner.

Moments later, Bayern doubled their lead in stoppage time when Union goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow misjudged a cross, allowing Serge Gnabry to fire home a powerful volley.

Any hopes of a Union comeback faded shortly after the restart. Kane showed his class by controlling Konrad Laimer’s pass under pressure before calmly slotting into the bottom corner.

Bayern’s attacking dominance continued, and Gnabry sealed the emphatic win with his second goal, beating Ronnow again with a fierce strike.

The result extends Union Berlin’s winless run against Bayern in the Bundesliga to 14 matches, leaving them stuck in mid-table.

Meanwhile, Bayern now sit 12 points clear of Borussia Dortmund and remain firmly on course to retain the Bundesliga title.
