Arsenal surrendered a two-goal cushion against bottom-placed Wolves on Wednesday, a result that handed a major advantage to Manchester City in the Premier League title race.
Debutant Tom Edozie struck deep into stoppage time to secure a dramatic 2–2 draw for Wolves, leaving Arsenal’s championship ambitions under fresh pressure.
The stalemate means the Gunners have now dropped points in successive matches and sit only five points clear of second-placed City, despite having played one game more.
Bukayo Saka marked his new five-year contract in style, opening the scoring with his fifth league goal of the season.
Mikel Arteta’s decision to deploy him in the No.10 role paid off early as the England star put the visitors ahead.
Arsenal looked set to take all three points when Piero Hincapié doubled the lead with his first goal for the club. However, a superb strike from Hugo Bueno pulled one back for the hosts to spark a late comeback.
Wolves eventually found their equaliser when Edozie’s effort from the edge of the box took a deflection off Riccardo Calafiori and beat David Raya, denying Arsenal the chance to stretch their lead at the top to seven points.
Arsenal’s opener came after sustained pressure, with Declan Rice delivering a cross that Saka nodded past José Sá from close range.
The visitors dominated the early exchanges, and Sá was called into action again, producing a fine double save to deny Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli in quick succession. Madueke also had another headed opportunity but failed to find the target.
Wolves offered little in the first half, only managing their first attempt in stoppage time when André dragged a long-range effort wide.
The home side improved after the break, with Adam Armstrong nearly scoring from distance.
But Arsenal struck again against the run of play when Gabriel slipped the ball to Hincapié, who finished confidently. The goal initially appeared to be ruled out for offside, but VAR confirmed it would stand.
Bueno reignited the contest five minutes later with a curling strike from outside the box that flew beyond Raya.
Wolves continued to press, and their persistence paid off in stoppage time. Raya misjudged a cross into the area, and the loose ball fell to Edozie, whose shot deflected into the net to spark wild celebrations at Molineux.
The late equaliser ensured Wolves claimed a valuable point, while Arsenal were left to rue a missed opportunity in the title race.
