Luis Diaz stole the show at the Allianz Arena on Sunday as Bayern Munich ran riot against TSG Hoffenheim, securing a commanding 5-1 Bundesliga victory.
The scoring opened in dramatic fashion in the 17th minute when Hoffenheim’s Kevin Akpoguma was sent off for a foul on Diaz in the box. Harry Kane stepped up and converted the resulting penalty to give Bayern an early advantage.
Despite being reduced to ten men, Hoffenheim fought back and drew level in the 35th minute. Manuel Neuer’s misplaced pass was intercepted by Fisnik Asllani, who set up Andrej Kramaric to calmly finish past the Bayern goalkeeper.
Bayern, however, responded almost immediately. Kane earned and converted his second penalty after Vladimir Coufal brought down Diaz in the box, restoring the hosts’ lead.
Moments later, Kane turned provider, threading a perfect pass for Diaz to slot home, giving Bayern a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw Kane threatening to complete his own hat-trick, only for Oliver Baumann to produce a string of stunning saves, including a header in the 50th minute and a close-range attempt that rattled the crossbar.
Bayern’s relentless pressure finally paid off in the 61st minute when Michael Olise delivered a pinpoint cross for Diaz to finish a slick team move, putting the result beyond doubt.
Kane would be denied again before being substituted, but Diaz ensured the scoring spectacle by completing his hat-trick with a composed finish into the far corner late in the match.
The 5-1 triumph reinforces Bayern’s six-point cushion over Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga, while Hoffenheim remain in third.
