West Ham ended an 11-game Premier League winless streak in dramatic fashion, snatching a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur thanks to an injury-time strike from Callum Wilson.
The result deepens Tottenham’s struggles, leaving them with just two wins in their last 13 matches across all competitions.
The match started with early fireworks, as West Ham’s Taty Castellanos was booked for dissent within 20 seconds. He almost made amends moments later, but his effort skimmed just over the bar.
Despite limited attacking moments, Crysencio Summerville produced a moment of brilliance, weaving past two defenders before his deflected strike wrong-footed Guglielmo Vicario and gave the Hammers an unexpected lead.
Tottenham’s Ben Davies, who was involved in the move, had to be stretchered off shortly after.
West Ham had further opportunities to extend their advantage. Alphonse Areola produced a stunning double save to deny Wilson Odobert and Djed Spence, while Jarrod Bowen’s goal was ruled out for offside following another Summerville effort.
Spurs responded with Konstantinos Mavropanos’ header being parried by Vicario, but the Hammers maintained their composure deep into eight minutes of added time.
The second half saw Tottenham take control, with Yves Bissouma and Spence testing Areola from range.
West Ham began to struggle in possession, and the pressure eventually paid off for Spurs when Cristian Romero powered home a header, leveling the scores.
Despite the equalizer, West Ham remained dangerous. Micky Van de Ven’s last-ditch tackle denied Summerville a second goal, and Areola continued to shine with a late save from Xaxi Simons.
In the dying moments, chaos from a Tottenham corner allowed substitute Callum Wilson to rise and fire home the decisive goal, securing a vital win for the Hammers.
The victory marks Nuno Espirito Santo’s first away triumph in the league (D4, L4) and lifts West Ham within four points of safety, giving their survival hopes a crucial boost.
Meanwhile, Spurs risk dropping as low as 15th in the table, depending on the outcome of Sunday’s Bournemouth vs Brighton clash.
