UCL: Martinelli, Saka inspire Arsenal to 2-0 win over Olympiacos

Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka fired Arsenal to a second straight Champions League win, sealing a 2-0 victory over Olympiacos at the Emirates, though the night ended with an injury worry for Mikel Arteta’s side.

After edging past Athletic Bilbao in their opening group game, and snatching a dramatic stoppage-time comeback against Newcastle United in the Premier League at the weekend, Arteta rotated his squad for the Greek champions’ visit.

Martinelli broke the deadlock in the first half, reacting quickest to convert from close range after Viktor Gyökeres’ effort came back off the post.

Olympiacos refused to fold and kept Arsenal on their toes with a spirited display, but the hosts were left concerned when centre-back Gabriel limped off late in the second half.

Saka eventually settled the contest deep into stoppage time, squeezing a low finish beneath Konstantinos Tzolakis to ensure Arsenal’s perfect European start remained intact.
