Musk, Prince Andrew named in new Epstein documents

Billionaire Elon Musk and Prince Andrew have appeared in newly released files from Congressional Democrats concerning the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

The documents, provided to the House Oversight Committee by Epstein’s estate, suggest that Musk had been invited to visit Epstein’s private island in December 2014.

Separately, a flight manifest from May 2000 shows the Duke of York as a passenger on a trip from New Jersey to Florida.

Both Musk and Prince Andrew have been approached for comment. Prince Andrew has previously denied any wrongdoing, while Musk has stated that Epstein had invited him to the island, but he declined.

These partial records come from the third batch of documents produced by Epstein’s estate. According to Democrats on the House Oversight Committee, the files include phone message logs, aircraft flight logs and manifests, financial ledgers, and Epstein’s daily schedules.

In addition to Musk and Prince Andrew, the documents also mention other prominent figures, including internet entrepreneur Peter Thiel and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

One entry dated December 6, 2014, reads: “Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)”

A flight manifest lists Prince Andrew on a plane with Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell from Teterboro, New Jersey, to West Palm Beach, Florida, on May 12, 2000. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 for conspiring with Epstein to traffic girls for sex.

One heavily redacted ledger shows two entries for payments related to massages for an “Andrew” in February and May 2000.

While palace records, press reports, and photographs indicate Prince Andrew traveled to the US around that time, it is unclear if the ledger refers to him.

Buckingham Palace’s website noted that on May 11, 2000, Prince Andrew flew to New York to attend a reception for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, returning to the UK on May 15.

The files also refer to a planned lunch with Peter Thiel in November 2017 and a breakfast with Steve Bannon on February 17, 2019.

Another entry mentions tentative plans for a breakfast with Microsoft founder Bill Gates in December 2014. Gates told the BBC in 2022 that meeting Epstein had been a “mistake.”

The documents do not suggest that anyone named was aware of Epstein’s later criminal activities.

Epstein died by suicide in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. He had previously struck a plea deal in 2008 after allegations that he molested a 14-year-old girl in Palm Beach. He was arrested again in July 2019 on sex trafficking charges.

Sara Guerrero, spokeswoman for the House Oversight Committee Democrats, called on US Attorney General Pam Bondi to release additional Epstein-related documents.

“It should be clear to every American that Jeffrey Epstein was friends with some of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world,” she said. “Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims.”

Republicans on the committee accused Democrats of “putting politics over victims” and said they would release the full set of documents soon.
