Why I resigned my KPMG job, Ghanaian actor Mawuli Gavor

Ghanaian actor and model Mawuli Gavor has shared the pivotal moment that led him to abandon his corporate career at accounting firm KPMG to fully pursue his passion in the creative industry.

In a candid conversation with Blac Volta, the screen star revealed the challenges of balancing both worlds and the decisive factor that made him choose artistry over the corporate ladder.

When asked what ultimately compelled his resignation, Gavor responded bluntly: “I will put it like this, sometimes in life, they say money stops nonsense.”

At the time, he was earning GH¢770 monthly at KPMG – a salary that appeared respectable on paper but proved insufficient given his growing opportunities in entertainment.

The actor vividly recalled the exhausting juggle between his demanding accounting job and creative pursuits. “I was in a meeting with Martini because we were struggling to do both. I would tell them that I had a job and needed to be at work by eight o’clock. They would say, ‘okay, charlie, cool. Let’s do the photo shoot at 6 a.m.’ But the people wouldn’t show up until 11 a.m. Imagine me at work, in my tie and everything, after running around for a shoot. Eventually, I knew I couldn’t do both,” he explained.

The mounting pressure nearly pushed Gavor to quit entertainment entirely to focus on his corporate career. However, a breakthrough collaboration with beverage brand Martini became the turning point that cemented his faith in the creative industry.
