S’Eagles’ Onuachu joins Trabzonspor from Southampton on permanent deal

Super Eagles star, Paul Onuachu, has sealed a permanent move to Turkish club Trabzonspor from English side Southampton.

The towering forward completed the switch in a deal worth €5.6 million ($6.6 million), marking a notable financial loss for Southampton, who acquired him for €18 million from Belgian outfit KRC Genk in January 2023.

Onuachu returns to familiar surroundings after a productive loan spell at Trabzonspor during the 2023/24 campaign, where he scored 17 goals in 25 matches.

In contrast, the 31-year-old struggled to make a similar impact in England, managing just four goals and one assist in 25 league games for the Saints.

Trabzonspor, who ended last season in third place in the Turkish Super Lig, are set to kick off the new season against Kocaelispor on Sunday, August 10.
