In preparation for the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority has deployed more than 350 personnel, along with operational equipment, to ensure smooth traffic flow across the state.

The deployment, which covers key roads and Eid prayer grounds, was announced in a statement released on Wednesday by OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adekoya Adesagba (retd.).

According to Adesagba, the move is aimed at facilitating a seamless and safe travel experience for residents and visitors during the festive period.

“Our officers have been strategically positioned to control traffic and prevent gridlock, especially around major roads and prayer grounds,” he stated.

He appealed to motorists to cooperate with traffic officials and obey all traffic laws, stressing that patience and discipline are essential during periods of increased road activity.

“We urge all road users to avoid common violations such as driving against traffic, ignoring traffic lights, reckless overtaking, speeding, and overloading. These infractions often lead to tragic incidents that could have been avoided,” the OYRTMA boss cautioned.

Adesagba acknowledged the support of Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that the administration has consistently provided the necessary resources to enhance traffic management operations in the state.

“We appreciate His Excellency for his commitment to road safety. The logistics support we’ve received has allowed us to respond effectively to emergencies and ensure order on our roads,” he said.

He further assured the public of the agency’s readiness to enforce traffic rules throughout the festive season and beyond.

“Our mandate is to keep Oyo roads safe, and we are dedicated to that cause. By working together with the public, we can achieve a safe and joyful Eid celebration,” Adesagba concluded.
