Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Friday, presented vehicles to 40 Jumma’at Mosque imams, in a move aimed at supporting their diligent religious service.
While handing over the cars, Lawal explained that the gesture was intended to enhance the mobility of the imams, allowing them to expand their preachings and outreach efforts to communities.
“Mobility is essential, especially for preaching and community engagements. That is why we have selected 40 Imams in this first phase to receive vehicles to ease their movement,” he said.
Lawal emphasized that Zamfara was a state grounded on strong Islamic principles, with numerous imams serving communities across all 14 local government areas. He added that supporting the welfare of religious leaders remains a priority of his administration.
“We are constructing mosques and houses for Imams, and we also feel it is important for them to move freely,” he added.
The governor further noted that the initiative would continue beyond this first phase, urging the clerics to pray for sustainable peace in Zamfara and across the nation.
Sheikh Bello Almufty, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs, praised Lawal as a leader committed to truth, justice, and inclusive development. He said the administration had transformed the lives of religious leaders through improved welfare packages and allowances for imams.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sheikh Atiku Zawiyya commended the governor for the invaluable support.
“The donation will strengthen the activities of Imams towards their service to the people,” Zawiyya said, praying that the governor would continue the gesture, adding that good deeds deserved prayers and Allah’s blessings.
The imams expressed heartfelt gratitude to the state government, pledging to uphold peace, unity, and moral values in their respective communities.
