Super Eagles and Club Brugge midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, is a major doubt for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Lesotho and Benin Republic.
The 24-year-old was forced off early in Club Brugge’s dramatic 5-5 draw with Westerlo on Wednesday night, exiting the game after just 16 minutes. He was replaced by Alexander Stankovic.
Onyedika, who has featured in six league matches for Nicky Hayen’s team this season, will now await further assessment. Hayen is expected to shed more light on the player’s condition before their upcoming clash with Standard Liege on Saturday.
Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle will be anxiously monitoring developments, hoping the setback is not severe.
Chelle is already facing concerns over another midfield option, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who picked up a muscle injury during Lazio’s narrow 1-0 defeat to AS Roma on Sunday.
