Onyedika will stay at Club Brugge amid transfer links – Coach

Club Brugge head coach, Ivan Leko, has firmly ruled out the possibility of Super Eagles star, Raphael Onyedika, leaving the club this month.

The Nigerian midfielder has recently been linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray, with reports suggesting he has agreed personal terms with the Yellow and Reds.

Adding to the speculation, Onyedika’s international teammate Victor Osimhen revealed this week that he had encouraged the defensive midfielder to consider a move to Turkey.

However, Leko insisted that he has received no communication about Onyedika being sold.

“Nobody told me he’s leaving,” the coach told Voetbalnieuws. “What I’ve seen? He’s training with us again, he’s in good spirits, and he’s behaving normally. I see no reason why Rapha can’t play. He’ll be in the squad.”

The Club Brugge boss also downplayed the swirling transfer rumours. “People are chattering and speculating about transfers, but I’m staying calm. We’ll see what happens.

“We’ll only know more when the transfer window is over. But I’m not worried about Onyedika. I’ve been in football for thirty years: I’m not stupid,” Leko added.
