US suffered disgraceful defeat, says Iran’s supreme leader

Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, declared on Thursday that the United States had suffered defeat in what he described as its war against Iran, according to a written message broadcast on state television.

In the statement, delivered publicly, Khamenei framed the development as a turning point in regional dynamics, particularly in the Persian Gulf.

He portrayed the outcome as a setback for Washington following a period of heightened military activity.

“Today, two months after the largest military deployment and aggression by the world’s bullies in the region, and the United States’ disgraceful defeat in its plans, a new chapter is unfolding for the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz,” said Khamenei in the message read on state television.

The remarks come amid continued tensions between Iran and the United States, particularly over security and influence in strategic waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical shipping routes, with a significant portion of global oil supplies passing through it.

Khamenei’s comments are likely to resonate across the region, where geopolitical rivalries and military posturing have shaped recent developments.

However, his characterization of events reflects Tehran’s perspective, as there has been no immediate corresponding statement from Washington addressing the claims.
