Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman, has said he is pleased with Atalanta’s dominant Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Nigerian star was influential on the night, scoring once and assisting another as the Serie A side cruised to a 3-0 victory at Deutsche Bank Park.
Lookman was lively from the outset, repeatedly testing Frankfurt’s backline with his sharp movement and persistent pressure before eventually finding the breakthrough.
He opened the scoring in the 60th minute, timing his run perfectly to meet a pinpoint cross from Charles De Ketelaere, cushioning the ball brilliantly before drilling it into the bottom-left corner.
Just two minutes later, the winger turned creator, bursting forward from deep, exchanging quick passes, and squaring for Ederson to slot home Atalanta’s second.
Frankfurt never recovered. Gianluca Scamacca struck the bar with a ferocious effort, and De Ketelaere reacted quickest to convert the rebound, sealing the Italian side’s third goal.
Speaking after the match, Lookman told UEFA media that the result reflected the team’s growing confidence.
“It’s a big performance for the team. It’s a good victory away from home.
“In the first half we had a few chances, and coming out in the second half, we knew we had to create chances again.
“And it’s pretty good that we scored three goals pretty quickly. The team is gradually gaining that confidence.”
