Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman, has described Atlético Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League as a significant result for the Spanish club.
Lookman, who scored the second goal in Tuesday’s encounter, made the remarks while speaking to CBS Sports Golazo after the match at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid.
Atlético took an early lead through Pablo Barrios, who found the net in the first minute following an assist from Álex Baena.
The hosts maintained their advantage before Lookman, introduced in the 71st minute for Julián Álvarez, doubled their lead eight minutes later to secure the victory.
Speaking after the game, the Nigerian international highlighted the importance of the result to his team, praising his teammates for their performance before he entered the pitch.
“We know how big of a win that is for us,” he said after the UCL group stage fixture.
Lookman added, “The guys put on a big performance before I came on, so it’s easy to come into the team and play.”
