Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, has declared himself fully fit and available for selection as Atlético Madrid prepare to host Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Wednesday at the Estadio Metropolitano.
The Nigerian winger had missed Atlético’s previous two matches due to an adductor problem, but he has now returned to full fitness in time for the high-profile clash against the Premier League side.
Lookman Ready For Gunners Test
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Lookman confirmed his recovery and eagerness to return to action.
“I missed the last few matches, but now I feel much better,” Lookman told a press conference on Monday.
“The first time I played against Arsenal was when I was a kid, with Charlton. Wednesday will be a very special game.”
Home Support Crucial
Lookman also highlighted the importance of the home crowd as Atlético aim to gain an advantage in the tie against the Gunners.
“As long as we have the fans with us, it’s special. They give us a lot of energy. When we played in Barcelona, the fans were at our hotel since 11am, that feeling is just unmatched,” added the Nigeria international.
Simeone’s Big Impact
He further spoke about his development under manager Diego Simeone, praising the Argentine’s influence on his all-round game.
“I’ve grown in every way with Diego Simeone, especially defensively. I think I’m a more complete player now, but I can still improve in every aspect. It’s great to have his trust, it gives you even more confidence,”he stated.
