As the 2026 Monte-Carlo Masters approaches, Italian tennis sensation Jannik Sinner revealed that clay courts aren’t his preferred surface.
Despite this, Sinner has shown he can excel on clay, highlighted by his run to the 2024 Roland Garros semifinals and a 72% career win rate on the surface.
Speaking to reporters in Monte Carlo, Sinner emphasized his focus on adapting to the physical challenges clay demands this season.
“I do like to play on clay, but it’s not my favourite surface,” Sinner told reporters in Monte Carlo. “I do believe I can play some good tennis.
“I haven’t won any [Masters 1000 clay events] yet, but I’ve been close here a couple of times. I can’t predict the future, but it would be nice to win here… It’s a tournament I love to play and I’m happy to be here.”
