Poland’s Iga Swiatek delivered a masterclass performance in the women’s singles final at Wimbledon on Saturday, dismantling Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 in just 57 minutes to capture her sixth Grand Slam title.
The 24-year-old became the first woman since 1911 to clinch a Wimbledon final without conceding a single game, a rare feat that cements her place in tennis history.
Anisimova, seeded 13th, came into the final on the heels of a stunning upset over world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
But against Swiatek, she struggled from the outset, racking up 28 unforced errors and managing just 24 points to Swiatek’s commanding 55.
“It’s been an incredible fortnight for me, even though I ran out of gas a bit today,” Anisimova admitted during her on-court interview.
Swiatek, long dominant on clay with four French Open titles to her name, had never advanced beyond the quarterfinals at Wimbledon prior to this year.
Her triumph at the All England Club marks her second major title on a surface other than clay, following her U.S. Open victory in 2022.
Ranked fourth heading into the tournament, Swiatek’s dominance only intensified as the event progressed.
She didn’t drop a single game across her final three sets and surrendered just two games in her last two matches combined. Remarkably, she lost only one set the entire tournament.
With this win, Swiatek adds Wimbledon to her collection of Grand Slam trophies, leaving only the Australian Open missing from her résumé.
Her ruthless performance on Saturday capped off a stunning campaign, one where she proved she could not only conquer clay, but grass as well.
