Residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have appealed to the government for urgent intervention after heavy rainfall caused severe flooding in parts of the city.
The downpour left several homes and vehicles submerged, with videos from affected areas showing the extent of the flooding and the difficulties faced by residents.
Some residents reportedly expressed concern over the presence of crocodiles in the floodwaters, with videos circulating online appearing to show the reptiles moving through some flooded areas.
One of the videos showed what appeared to be a large crocodile making its way through a residential area.
However, the authenticity of the footage could not be independently established, with some viewers questioning whether it was artificially generated.
Another video, however, reportedly showed residents killing a baby crocodile found in a flooded area.
The flooding has left residents dealing with significant disruption, as water covered roads and entered residential areas, making movement difficult and raising concerns over the safety of people living in affected communities
Residents have consequently called on the government to come to their aid and take urgent steps to address the situation, particularly as heavy rainfall continues to pose a threat to low-lying parts of the city.
