The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully rescued two teenagers abducted in Song Local Government Area and apprehended a suspected kidnapper during a joint security operation.
The victims, 18-year-old Rabe Mamman Sani and 16-year-old Aminu Mamman Sani, were reportedly kidnapped from Gwewan Village in Dumne, Song LGA.
They were released unharmed after a coordinated raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Suktu Mountain on February 11, 2026.
In a statement to journalists on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said the operation was carried out by police operatives in collaboration with local security outfits.
Nguroje credited the success of the operation to the “strategic deployment of security assets by the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris.”
The statement said, the suspects “opened fire on the operatives upon sighting them, leading to a gun duel.” The kidnappers reportedly fled the scene with possible gunshot injuries, abandoning the victims.
“During the operation, officers arrested one suspect, Sanda Bello (22), of Salasa Village in Dumne. The suspect has confessed to participating in the crime,” the statement added.
The rescued teenagers were taken to a hospital for medical examination and were confirmed to be in good condition.
Police also said that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the raid, noting that the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has commenced further investigation.
Commissioner Morris praised the bravery of the operatives and the support of local security groups, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
He further urged residents to “report suspicious persons, particularly individuals with gunshot wounds.”
