The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of belonging to an armed robbery syndicate and recovered three firearms and three rounds of live ammunition in Asaba.
The command said the suspect, identified as Sunday Nimel, was arrested on October 7, 2026, at about 10:30 pm by operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team, Ughelli, working with local vigilantes.
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the arrest followed credible intelligence linking the suspect to alleged residential robbery operations in Asaba and neighbouring communities.

He stated, “During interrogation, the suspect made useful statements that led operatives to a hideout near Okpanam City Gate, where one AK-47 rifle, three rounds of live ammunition and two locally made cut-to-size guns were recovered.”
The police spokesperson added that investigations were ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Samuel Erale, commended the operatives for the operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state.
