British singer, Lauren Bennett, best known for her contribution to LMFAO’s 2011 global hit Party Rock Anthem, has died at the age of 37.
The news of her passing was announced on Monday by her former pop group, G.R.L., in a statement shared on Instagram.
“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren,” the statement said. “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.”
The group did not disclose the cause of her death, while Bennett’s representatives did not immediately respond to the BBC’s request for comment.
Party Rock Anthem became one of the biggest songs of the last decade, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks in 2011.
The track was later ranked by Billboard as the fifth most successful song of all time. Bennett also appeared alongside LMFAO members in the music video, which has attracted more than 2.5 billion views on YouTube.
In 2014, Bennett became a member of G.R.L., a pop group formed as a revival of The Pussycat Dolls. The lineup included Paula Van Oppen, Natasha Slayton, Simone Battle and Emmalyn Estrada.
The group gained recognition with its 2014 single Ugly Heart and also collaborated with Pitbull on Wild Wild Love that same year.
G.R.L. disbanded in 2015 following the death of member Simone Battle, who died by suicide.
Beyond her work with G.R.L. and LMFAO, Bennett also lent her vocals to the soundtracks of the films Date Night and 21 Jump Street.
Paying tribute to the late singer, G.R.L. said, “We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us,” G.R.L.’s statement said. “Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”
