Super Eagles striker, Akor Adams, has opened up about the significant impact teammate Victor Osimhen has had on his football journey, describing the Napoli star as one of his biggest inspirations.
Adams said Osimhen’s words of encouragement came at a critical point in his career when things were not going well for him in Europe.
The 24-year-old Sevilla forward recently made headlines after scoring on his debut for the Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.
Coming off the bench to replace Tolu Arokodare in the 63rd minute, Adams displayed composure and sharpness as he netted in the 80th minute, calmly finishing a brilliant pass from Osimhen to secure a crucial point for Nigeria.
Reflecting on his journey, Adams revealed that Osimhen’s influence extended beyond the pitch.
He recounted how the Galatasaray striker reached out to him with a motivational message when he was struggling to adapt to life and football abroad. According to him, those words became a turning point that reignited his confidence and belief in his abilities.
“Come on, he’s only just arrived there. Believe me, he’ll prove himself,” Adams said, highlighting Osimhen’s unwavering support and faith in him. The young striker admitted that hearing such words from one of Africa’s best footballers gave him the mental strength to push harder and stay focused on his goals.
Taking to his official Instagram handle, Adams expressed his appreciation to Osimhen, noting that he is now living his dream because of the senior player’s encouragement.
“I’m living my dream thanks to the Galatasaray striker’s timely motivational message,” he wrote, adding that he hopes to follow in Osimhen’s footsteps and continue making Nigeria proud on the international stage.
