Nnaji resigns as innovation minister amid forgery allegations

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following allegations leveled against him.

Nnaji, who was appointed in August 2023, announced his resignation in a letter to the President on Tuesday, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation.

In the letter, Nnaji noted that he had become the target of “malicious blackmail” from political opponents, prompting his decision to step aside.

“It has been a great honour to serve under your administration, but recent events have made me the subject of persistent political attacks and falsehoods. In light of this, I have decided to resign to protect the integrity of your government,” Nnaji reportedly stated.
