Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone, has praised Ademola Lookman for his continued growth, insisting the forward still has more to offer the team.
Lookman played a key role in Atletico’s 2–1 defeat to Barcelona in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday night, with Atletico advancing 3–2 on aggregate.
The Nigerian forward made a major impact in the tie, scoring a crucial first-half goal that helped secure Atletico’s qualification to the next stage.
After the match, Simeone delivered strong praise for Lookman’s development and influence within the squad, highlighting both his defensive and attacking improvements.
He said, “He’s growing, he is growing a lot defensively, which makes him even more important to the team,”
He also added: “He’s courageous and has taken more responsibilities of the team.”
Simeone further noted, “He’s brilliant offensively, very good on 1v1. We want more from him and he has more in his tank.”
Since joining Atletico in January, Lookman has recorded six goals and four assists in all competitions, continuing to strengthen his role in the squad.
