Lookman named Man of the Match in Atalanta, Milan draw

Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, delivered a standout performance on Tuesday night, earning the Man of the Match award as Atalanta battled to a 1-1 draw with AC Milan in their Serie A encounter.

The Nigerian international, who has endured a slow start to the campaign following transfer-related distractions during the summer, finally opened his goal account for the season.

His precise left-footed finish from inside the box secured a valuable point for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.

Lookman, the reigning African Player of the Year, impressed throughout the contest with his energy and creativity, capping his display with a crucial equaliser that earned him top honours on the night.

Reflecting on his performance, the former Everton and Leicester City winger expressed delight at his contribution but vowed to build on the momentum in the coming weeks.

“It’s important to be available for the team, to help the team,” Lookman told DAZN Italia.

“I’ve not been able to find form yet, physically or in front of goal, but I’ll get there eventually and this was a step forward in the right direction. Hopefully in the coming games we’ll be able to get some wins.

“I think that when I’m on the pitch, the most important thing is to try to help the team win. We want to keep climbing up the table and that’s the most important thing, to win football games.”
