Lookman eyes AFCON title with Super Eagles

Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman, has made it clear that his priority is helping Nigeria lift the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

The Atalanta forward has been one of Nigeria’s standout performers in Morocco, scoring three goals so far, and is expected to be central to the Super Eagles’ plans when they face hosts Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Speaking with Footy Africa, Lookman stressed that his attention remains firmly on the task at hand, as Nigeria push for continental glory.

“I’m always focused on the present and, at the moment, the present is being here in Morocco for AFCON and trying to help my country win the tournament.

All the experiences are in the past.”

Under coach Eric Chelle, Nigeria have been the competition’s most potent attacking side, scoring 14 goals in five matches, conceding just four and recording two clean sheets.

Much of that firepower has come from the attacking trio of Victor Osimhen, Lookman and Alex Iwobi, with additional support from Akor Adams.

The team’s stability and leadership have been anchored by Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, as the Super Eagles continue their quest to be crowned African champions in Morocco.
