Super Eagles and Atalanta forward, shared his joy after playing a pivotal role in his team’s important 2-1 triumph over AS Roma on Monday, a win that sealed Atalanta’s spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Despite initial injury concerns ahead of the encounter, Lookman made the starting lineup and made an immediate impact.
In just the 9th minute, he received a clever pass from Charles De Ketelaere, made a sharp turn inside the box, and calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner to open the scoring.
Roma responded with an equalizer through Bryan Cristante, but Atalanta regained the lead in the second half thanks to Ibrahim Sulemana, who sealed the win and Champions League qualification.
After the match, Lookman spoke to DAZN, expressing his joy and commending the team’s effort, “We have qualified for the Champions League, it’s a great feeling: we are very happy with these three points,” the Nigerian forward said.
“I tried to be available to help my teammates, we are a strong team and I did everything I could to be there. Tonight is a great night to celebrate.”
Lookman has been a standout player for Atalanta this campaign, tallying 20 goals and seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
His stellar performances have drawn interest from several major European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
With the season winding down, Lookman will be eager to maintain his form and cap off an already impressive year on a strong note.
