JAMB extends direct entry registration deadline to May 8

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the registration deadline for the 2026/2027 Direct Entry admission exercise to May 8, 2026.

The extension, which shifts the earlier closing date of April 25, is aimed at giving eligible candidates more time to complete their registration and participate in the admission process into tertiary institutions.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who said the move is part of efforts to ensure inclusiveness.

“As part of measures to ensure that no prospective Direct Entry candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education, the Board has extended the sale of application documents to May 8, 2026,” he said.

In addition to the deadline extension, the examination body approved five new registration centres across the country to ease congestion and improve access for applicants.

The newly designated centres are located at the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, Mini Campus, University of Ilorin, Kwara State; Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State; Olabisi Onabanjo University Centre, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State; the Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo; and Human Development Initiatives, Sabo, Lagos.

According to the Board, the Lagos centre will begin operations on April 30, 2026.

Benjamin added that all JAMB offices nationwide, including Professional Registration Centres and Professional Testing Centres, remain open to accommodate candidates seeking to complete their registration.
