The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers issued between 2021 and 2026 to either accept or reject them.
The deadline, which was initially set for August 31, 2026, has now been moved to September 30, 2026.
JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, announced the extension in a statement on Saturday, describing it as a “final opportunity” for affected candidates to regularise the status of their admission offers.
“Candidates with pending admission offers who have not yet accepted or rejected (regular or CUIIA) such offers are strongly advised to do so before 30 September 2026,” Benjamin stated.
The board urged candidates not to wait until the deadline before taking action, warning that failure to respond could have consequences for their admission status.
According to JAMB, candidates who accept their outstanding offers will be able to proceed with printing their admission letters.
However, those who reject their offers will have their dashboards changed to “Not Admitted”, allowing the board to update its records.
JAMB also provided guidance for candidates who are no longer studying at the institutions where they were previously offered admission or who are currently enrolled in programmes different from those stated in their outstanding offers.
The board said such candidates could accept the previous admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion, depending on their circumstances.
“This will enable the Board to appropriately update the candidate’s admission status and records,” it said.
The board also addressed candidates who are currently pursuing a second degree but still have an earlier admission offer that has not been accepted.
JAMB said such candidates could reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.
It further clarified that candidates who secured admission during the 2026 admission exercise would not suffer any negative consequences for rejecting an earlier outstanding offer.
“Such candidates may reject the previous admission offer, and doing so will have no adverse effect whatsoever on their 2026 admission,” JAMB stated.
The board explained that the extension was intended to give affected candidates another opportunity to make their decisions while helping it maintain accurate national admission records.
However, JAMB warned that the September 30 deadline would be final and would not be extended again.
“The Board wishes to emphasise that there will be no further opportunity after the expiration of the extended deadline on Wednesday, 30 September 2026,” it warned.
JAMB said all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2026 that remained neither accepted nor rejected by the deadline would automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status on its records.
It therefore advised all affected candidates to take action before the deadline.
The board concluded that “failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period will render the offer invalid.”
