JAMB apologises over delay in UTME results, promises release before nightfall

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has apologised to candidates over the delay in releasing results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted on Friday, April 17.

The examination body had earlier indicated that the second batch of results would be released on Saturday but failed to meet the timeline, triggering anxiety among candidates awaiting their scores.

In a statement issued on Sunday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, attributed the delay to the absence of the board’s chief executive, who was engaged in official duties.

“We sincerely apologise for the delay in releasing the results for Friday, April 17, which is the second batch as earlier scheduled,” the statement read.

Benjamin explained that the release process was affected because the head of the board was unavailable at the time.

“Our Chief Executive was unavailable due to an important engagement but is expected back in the office today. We assure candidates that the results will be released later today, certainly before nightfall,” he said.

The board also acknowledged the inconvenience caused to candidates who had waited late into the night for the results.

“We extend our heartfelt apologies to all candidates who stayed up in anticipation. We appreciate your patience and understanding,” he added.
