Brazil secured a comfortable 4-0 victory over India in an international friendly at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday, with Samuel Lino scoring twice in the second half.
Estêvão opened the scoring for Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the 28th minute, cutting inside from the right before firing a low effort from the edge of the box that beat Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu at his near post.
India had started brightly and threatened Brazil on the counter-attack through Manvir Singh and Ryan Williams, but Brazil gradually took control of the contest.
Pedro doubled Brazil’s advantage three minutes before half-time after receiving a clever pass from Estêvão.
His angled effort appeared to be within Sandhu’s reach, but the goalkeeper failed to hold the ball as it slipped through his hands.
India continued to pose occasional threats after the interval, with Williams going close and seeing an effort cleared off the line.
However, a defensive mistake handed Brazil their third goal in the 58th minute.
Bijoy Varghese lost possession while attempting to play out from defence, allowing Lino to take advantage.
The Brazilian forward cut inside from the left side of the box before curling a fine effort into the bottom corner.
Lino completed his brace deep into stoppage time, cutting inside before firing a low shot that went through Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu’s hands to complete a 4-0 victory for Ancelotti’s team.
