As Christians prepare for Easter, the Lagos State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has urged believers to reflect the season’s message through acts of sacrificial love toward fellow citizens and the nation’s leaders.
Adegbite made the appeal during the recently concluded Destiny 2026 conference in Lagos, stressing that Easter should be a period marked by compassion, unity, and a renewed commitment to national progress.
He also rejected gloomy predictions about Nigeria’s future, maintaining that the country would remain united and peaceful.
“Peace will reign. Every storm shall be subdued,” he declared.
The four-day gathering, themed “A Time of Refreshing in His Presence,” also marked the 38th anniversary of Vineyard Christian Ministries Inc.
Speaking at the event, the Presiding Bishop of Vineyard Christian Ministries Inc., Archbishop John Osa-Oni, encouraged Christians to overcome spiritual fatigue by intentionally deepening their relationship with God.
“You must be intentional in your desire for the knowledge of God to truly know Him. It is not a casual relationship; it is a commitment to dwell in His presence for refreshing,” he said.
Osa-Oni explained that staying in God’s presence brings rest, joy, preservation, and access to divine nature, allowing believers to enjoy peace regardless of life’s difficulties.
“When you secure the presence of God, you secure life,” he added.
Also addressing participants, the Coordinator of the Lagos State Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria Women Wing, Apostle Josephine Femi-Asiwaju, urged Christians to remain steadfast in seeking God’s presence.
She said abiding in God gives believers a clearer sense of identity and comfort, even during difficult moments.
“Even if your character is faulty and you are weary in life, remain in His presence and abide in Him,” she advised.
The conference attracted worshippers and church leaders from different parts of Lagos, with messages centered on faith, hope, spiritual renewal, and the significance of Easter.
