De Ligt defends Amorim after Man Utd defeat to Brentford

Manchester United defender, Matthijs de Ligt, has defended manager Ruben Amorim, insisting the team’s recent struggles in the Premier League should not fall on his shoulders.

Following United’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford, de Ligt told the club’s official website that the players themselves were primarily responsible for the disappointing result.

“Of course, it’s very frustrating,” de Ligt admitted. “All week we were focused on building momentum and securing another win, so this loss is a real setback. It’s not a good feeling at all. Everyone is very disappointed.”

He continued, emphasizing personal accountability before blaming anyone else, “First and foremost, you must be disappointed in yourself.

“After that, you feel it for the team and the result as a whole. That’s the reality, we’re disappointed, and we know we need to improve.”
